British-Columbia Invites Entrepreneurs and Skilled Workers

Sometimes in May, the British Columbia issued 187 Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada. The invitation was given to applicants who were skilled and were ready to migrate to Canada through the skills immigration and Express Entry British Columbia. The International Graduate, entry level and semi-skilled classes, also got invites.

Although, for the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC-PNP), there were minimum score declines from 109 to 106, with five-consecutive draws, which later brought a three-point increase to 109 and 20 invitations to be issued through the PNP. With these invitations, a total of 81 invitations has been issued so far. These category of people are really close to getting their permanent resident status in Canada. This simply shows how willing the Canadian government is to bring in new sets of eyes into their entrepreneurship sector.

The good news is that, apart from these categories, there is another platform that caters to applicants who are looking to migrate to Canada as permanent residents, the Entrepreneur Immigration Stream. This system of Express Entry manages applicants who have applied under three of the following federal programs; the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class. The BC-PNP apart from other streams operates in connection with the Canada Federal Express-Entry system that allows applicant apply for permanent residency.

For the BC-PNP international graduate category, you must have graduated from a university or college in the province, met the language competency test score and qualified under the EE programs.

For applicants who get invited through the Entry level, Semi-Skilled workers, skilled workers and International Graduates streams, must be registered under the BC-PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). The SIRS is appoint based system that allows candidates be granted points based on multiple factors.

So, as an entrepreneur, how do you get your foot in the door?

Entrepreneurs in the BC immigration class must meet the following requirements:

  1. Have a net worth of 800 000 dollars minimum.
  2. Must have invested a sum of 400 000 dollars or above to build, buy or grow a legitimate business in BC.
  3. Must take part in everyday administration and heading of the business
  4. Enter a performance agreement with BC before the nomination
  5. Make job offers available or employment for at least three or more Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

How do you qualify for the Provincial Entrepreneur Category

  1. Have a net worth of 400 000 dollars minimum.
  2. Must have invested a sum of 200 000 dollars or above to build, buy or grow a legitimate business in BC.
  3. Make job offers available or employment for at least one or more Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  4. Must take part in everyday administration and heading of the business
  5. Enter a performance agreement with BC before the nomination
