The Government of Canada held a new draw on the 30th of October, 2019 and invited 3,900 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence. This draw makes it a total of 71,700 issued Invitations to Apply for the year 2019 only. The minimum CRS considered for the draw was 475. Usually, Express Entry manages the pool of candidates for Canada’s three Federal High Skilled economic immigration programs — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. But for this draw, A Canadian job offer was not required to be eligible.
One of the reasons a high score was recorded for the October 30 draw was because one of the usual two weeks regular draw was skipped and the draw had to done 28 days after the penultimate one on October 2. On October 16, the Government of Canada held a smaller, Federal Skilled Trades Class-specific draw rather than an all-program draw which involves the three Express Entry-managed programs. These extended draws between all-program draws usually results in a higher minimum CRS score because additional, higher-scoring candidates have time to enter a profile in the Express Entry pool.
Despite this high figure, the number of ITAs recorded so far is still about 2500 ITAs lesser than that of 2018. But with the higher admissions target for the three Federal High Skilled economic immigration programs for 2019 and 2020, even more invitations are likely to be issued which means it could still surpass 2018’s record by the end of the year.
The last weeks have seen Express Entry-aligned provincial nominee programs in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Manitoba and British Columbia issue more than 2,000 invitations to Express Entry candidates. Saskatchewan held a record draw for nearly 1,000 Express Entry candidates through the Express Entry sub-category of its immigrant nominee program on October 18. Followed by an invitation round on October 24 for another 550 Express Entry candidates.
On Monday, Nova Scotia issued invitations to 430 Express Entry candidates with work experience as registered nurses or registered psychiatric nurses through its Labour Market Priorities Stream. Nova Scotia said there was no minimum CRS requirement for these candidates.
Alberta selected Express Entry candidates with CRS scores as low as 350 in a selection round held October 9 through the Alberta Express Entry Stream. Earlier selection rounds through this stream have seen Express Entry candidates with scores as low as 300 invited to apply for a provincial nomination from Alberta. The first step to being considered for a provincial nomination through one of these streams is to enter a profile in the Express Entry pool.
Good luck!
